Ok - there may be an issue here with how the files are being taken from the forum attachment database and sent when downloading.

I'll look into this now - apologies for the problems!

Hi Brentwic,

Looks like you're running Windows Vista (if I am not mistaken?). If so, please refer to:

Quote:
Registration for HTML Help files is required since Microsoft issued a security patch for Microsoft Internet Explorer, disabling in general all HTML Help files that are viewed from a network drive.
http://www.ec-software.com/products_hhreg.html

Quote:
How to fix it? There are several ways to fix this problem. The first (and this is the way recommended by Microsoft) is: put the CHM files onto the local harddrive. Files viewed from local drives are not affected.
If this is not possible or not desirable, you can explicitly register individual help files and folders to allow viewing them over the network or edit the Windows registry to make the security settings less strict in general. Microsoft describes the necessary steps in detail in this knowledgebase article KB 896054.

HHReg helps you with the registry editing task. Modifying the Windows registry is tedious and error-prone. HHReg provides a simple user interface to view and modify the list of registered HTML Help files and folders.

Hi Brentwic;

Here you go:
http://docs.kayako.net/staffcp/Kayak..._SRC_1.0.8.pdf

On further reading, even on XP SP2 you may need to follow the proceedures I linked you to.

I am using Win XP Pro SP2 with IE7, works fine for me. I did not have to go through any of the above procedures.

This would mean either you have more relaxed ActiveX security settings in policy, or that the CHM file has eben able to register itself as "local" in your registry.

I use the Medium-High internet settings and have not found any issues with the new file. Works like a charm

I think it is either that or you're missing a security patch, according to the Microsoft website: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896358 - glad it is working nonetheless

Question 01-02-2007, 10:57 AM

Experienced Users: What would you have used a staff control panel manual for?

Hi everyone,

Development of the product manuals is quickly progressing, as is the focus on the staff control panel manual. Whilst completion of this document is nearing, we are beginning to take a closer look at fine tuning "browse paths".

A browse path through (or of) a manual or document is the path which a user intuitively takes in order to find information. Ease of use of a manual generally stems from optimising this browse path. It is very similar to the three-click rule of web design.

In order to do this well, I would like to hear from you about one or a list of tasks you wanted to complete within the staff control panel, or a feature you needed information on during your time spent 'learning' the control. panel. Basically, something you needed help with or needed to spend more time on.

We will then take your input, test the manual based on your list and see if we can fine tune anything as appropriate.

Obviously, the person doing the documentation is not the best person to ask - as they're meant to know it all anyway!

Looking forward to your responses,

Jamie
