Create logins with restricted access - 30-09-2008, 01:04 PM

Story:
We are using different departments as different Clients. Which means we have a department called "coca cola", "Volvo", "M&Ms" etc.

What we Like:
We would like to give each company a login to the STAFF section of Kayako in order for them to look around. However the should only be allowed to look but not touch.

What we've done (Test-scenario):
We created a login for a client - lt's say "Volvo". We have removed all access rights so they can only see their own department etc.

Issue:
It is actually working fine except one thing. As the departments are all different clients they should not be able to see other clients tickets but this is actually possible.

By default when login into kayako with the settings we have for the login they only see their own depratment and their own tickets.

BUT: If they go to search they are able to find tickets from other departments. They can also try to send a new ticket (even though they wont be able to as we removed this option) but from the dropdown list they will be able to see all our departments (and in our case that would be all our clients).
If they find other clients tickets they cannot open it but they can still see their company name and the subject of the tickets.

Request:
I would like to see a much better way to create logins for STAFF (and possible ADMIN as well) where it is possible to choose EXCATLY what the user will be able to "see and touch".

Kayako: 3.11.01 | PHP: 5.2.3 | MySQL: 5.0.41 | Windows 2003 Server

Simply use 'User Groups', and set people as 'Manager' instead of 'User' when you assign them to the correct 'User Group'. This gives them the ability to see All the tickets for this 'User Group', but not any other tickets. There should not be any reason to allow your customers to log into you Staff CP! If you need to take this a step further you can look into setting up 'Template Groups'.
