System -> Centralized, shared object media upload and storage - 05-05-2007, 04:42 PM

I think it would be cool if under the admin panel there was an image upload section. This way we can automate the uploads of images to the server. It would work the same way as uploading a KB. You can setup categories and subcategories and then upload images. Can this be implemented?

The (lack of) popularity of this doesn't warrant this new module.

I know people wanted this before because I read a few others requesting it. Maybe it just got burried so people didn't get a chance to read it.

Couldn't this be easily implemented by switching to FCKEditor with the built-in file upload feature?

That or the DevEdit I suggested and many agreed with...

There has to be an easy/automated way where images can be uploaded by all staff and added to KB's rather than having to upload directly to the server somewhere (which staff can't do).

Changed the title of the thread and moved for consideration.

The ability for staff to upload images for KB articles is an important (missing) feature. Currently KB is basically unusable by staff for us, as 70% of our normal KB articles require images to make clear what needs to be done. Currently that's not possible.

Features I need asap:
1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.
Cheers!

I'd probably use it as well - rather necessary for creating visual KB articles or troubleshooting steps.

Seems like this is more popular then originally thought. Lets hope it gets implemented.

If this feature does get implemented, please consider making inline flash video playing possible. We have flash videos as tutorials for our customers.

And if were going to do this, tie it in to fixing what happens to KB articles (formatting/images) in this thread:
Knowledge Base insert into ticket

See my suggestions if you will, about making KB article insertion smarter (aware if images are in the article etc.)

Thanks for considering,

Rich

I agree, I think that being able to add pictures and flash videos to the KB is very valueable to clients. I feel that users would be able to understand videos better and therefore increasing customer satisfaction.

Def worth doing.
