Ticket ID Type - 28-02-2008, 02:41 PM

Hello,

You have 2 options at te moment to select by "Ticket ID Type" on the Admin CP:
- Random
- Sequential

I was thinking of a third option...
By submitting a new ticket you have to select a subject before you can enter your message. I use this option for my products. For example:
- Product Support
- Product Idea
- Product Kayako

Now if you submit a ticket, it will get an ID. So my intension was:
You take for example the first 2 letters from the product (or department) and use that for your ID. So you will get something like:
- Ticket ID 1 = SU-1001 (product Support)
- Ticket ID 2 = SU-1002 (product Support)
- Ticket ID 3 = KA-1001 (product Kayako)
ect.

Sounds like an good idea? I think it is!

I agree, seems like a good feature.

That'd require a whole lot of rewiring under the hood, but there is documentary value to such a thing. I'm going to lodge it as a feature request for 4. That doesn't guarantee that it'll go in, but it does mean that the feature will be seriously considered by the engineering staff.

Nah I think John missed out that it was a feature request sub-forum for v4. Guess he was in some hurry!

It is actually nice to see one of the developers seams to be now playing an active roll on these forums. Lets hope it keeps up!

Maybe something simple (though usually when I think something is simple, it actually isn't ... ) as a 'predefined subject' could work wonders for this option?
