Comments and rating should be limited by IP etc - 23-03-2007, 02:21 PM

Articles should only allow one vote per user/cookie/IP...

This is a good suggestion - I will notify the developers of it.

Thanks for posting!

System -> Comments and rating should be limited by IP etc - 22-06-2007, 08:26 AM

Now you can hit "this answer was helpful" as often as you wish.

Making it easy for manipulative users to boycott the whole system by just hitting the button repeatedly.
There should be an option to limit the times how often this function can be used a day on one article by a single user.

Sorry if this already exists didn't find anything similar via search.

Yes, I agree. It should have the following options :-
- Allow Unlimited Rating (Default)
- Limit by Time Based on IP (This should have an option to enter the number of days they can rate again)
- Limit by Time Based on User (Same as above but based on users if only they are allowed to vote)

Allow KB / Downloads to only be "voted" on once - 14-12-2007, 10:09 AM

Is it possible to use a cookie or something to stop people from "voting" on the downloads / kb articles as much as they want?

I think the ratings for KB items are getting messed up by crawlers and spiders, who are following both links so ratings are right in the middle accross the board..

So can we disable spiders/crawlers from accessing the rating system? Based on agent or something?

mbeijen: That's an interesting possibility. I will look into whether rel="nofollow" and so on would be an effective solution, and if not, I'll find something else.
