System -> Global recycle bin - 05-07-2007, 09:47 AM

Soft Delete in the db would be cool (ie just move it to a "Recycle Bin" table).

And to be clear (from my perspective at least) I'd like to see anything with a trash can icon (delete action) should be rolled in to this. Notes, contacts, kb articles, users etc.

Features I need asap:
1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.
Cheers!

Its one of the things most companies would need so they could restore in the event of a malicious staff member or accidental delete!

In the mean time you can add an option to restrict delete permissions:

Steps for Suggested Use Case:
1) login to admin cp
2) go to staff>manage groups
3) select group to change permissions
4) go to 'knowledgbase' section
5) select "no" for new section

New Permission item under Knowlegebase Section:
'Delete Articles o yes o no

The effect of restricting deletion is that the article delete option would return a friendly message is a restricted user attempted to delete one or more articles.

"Unable to delete this article. You do not have permission to delete knowledgebase articles. Please contact your administrator."

Currently there is only ONE permission setting for kb articles:
"Can View Knowledgebase Tab o yes o no"

Jamie - You "turned this into new request" in November 2007, does that mean it will be implemented soon?

Thanks!
Greg

Hi Greg,

No, it doesn't. It was paced in the consideration queue for Version 4 (the next major iteration of our product line); it will not be implemented in the 3.0.0 line.

For tickets, we have a Trash or Dumpster department, accessible only to Administrators, to which we "delete" (move) our tickets. This is not foolproof, but allows us to retrieve accidentally deleted tickets without compromising "security".

Well, this used to work in the past. We generally do not delete tickets, so I am not sure that this would still work.

... just an idea...
