Add news -> Ability to assign to multiple template groups - 30-07-2007, 05:55 PM

Currently when adding a news item, you can only choose 1 template group.
this can be very time consuming if the news applies to multiple groups.

Can we please have the options to select which groups the news should appear in.

Yea, it should be a bunch of multiple selectable tick boxes.

This has already been requested in my suggestion to have "multi-select" boxes instead of single boxes.

This would be very helpful. Does anyone have an idea when this will be implemented?

Unhappy Ability to assign to multiple template groups - 31-01-2008, 12:15 AM

Wondering what the status is for a fix to this issue. Its very mis-leading with the label on the form says it is possible to assign "group(s)", meaning one or more, and you are not allowed. I cannot believe this would be that tough of a fix.

While I am happy with the SupportSuite? It is these types of issues that are "show stopping" our installation and rollout to supporting our national/ international site license agreements. Now in order to implement multiple groups, I have to spend time publishing multiple copies of news articles.

So if a bug fix is not on the horizon? I am also wondering if anyone has a temporary fix or work around for this issue.

Thanks!

Jack

This is the work around I use

Select the group and post the news
Click in the "Back" button
Choose another group
Send the news again

Is not perfect but better than copy and paste the news again

I hope this safe some time.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately that did not quite work. It just re-directed the article to another group. The article actually needs to be seen in all of the groups simultaneously. (One article viewed by many groups.) Are you missing a step to the the procedure?

You are right it wont work in that case, it works for me because I just have 3 groups, you can go back and forward as many times as you need but is not very efficient

I have this own-written news-system now, I think I keep on using that in my backoffice for adding newsitems and make an API to add/copy them to the corresponding templategroups.

That should work I guess and I trust that in the nearby future newsitems will work like the FAQ items.

Joel, more than a month has passed since your post, and I was just wondering if you've made any changes to your mod, or discovered any 'gotchas' before I give it a whirl.

Thanks!

Thanks for following up Matthew. I actually did do some more work on it so that the RSS feeds work and some other things. I'll work on it this week and post it here.

Thanks,
Joel
