Thats ok but not enough for me - handled wrong that method may put someone into supplemental indexes. Searching for "site:your.domain.com -www" gives an idea of what googles been doing to some people.

an .htaccess rewrite type of edit for the knowledgebase, downloads and troubleshooters is what I would need at a minimum.

It should be implemented like /knowledge-base/category/sub-category/article-name/index.html

It probably wouldn't be semsible to namespace all of the sub-categories; either the topmost parent or at most the topmost parent and last child category should be enoug for SEO purposes.

It this guaranteed for version 4 ?

It was said it would be in version 3 and wasn't and we're about to dump kayako for another solution because of this. If its going to be in v4 we may hold on.

Please do confirm, for the record

It is in "Will Implement" so yes it is. Posts are only moved here once management decide they will be implemented. At which point, Jamie moves them for them.

Hi Matt,

Yes - I have targetted this for Version 4 and have put it in the roadmap.

@Craig; feature requests are targetted in a number of ways, depending on the request; either I target them, or discuss them with Varun and target them, or we all conference and decide on them in relation to the roadmap.

Search Engine Friendly URL's - 24-03-2008, 04:57 PM

Jamie,

I think we have been asking for this feature for a LONG time.

The current URL's are not google or search engine friendly. There should be a way to use the re-write module to create friendlier URL's that help in SEO/ranking.

Thank you.

Hi Salman,

You will find that URLs play a very small part when search engines rank and crawl your websites.

You will also find that search engines crawl your knowledgebase articles very effectively, especially when you have well named categories.

However, we do agree that user and search engine friendly URLs are needed in place of the current ones, and we will implement them - as per this thread: http://forums.kayako.com/f120/system...ly-urls-11098/

Moving this thread to Duplicates.

Thanks,

LOL ....... it took them over 8 months to release 3.20.02 stable.

At the current rate with only 1 php developer ........ Guess how long they will take to get to v4?

Hi Salman,

We have 5 developers, two of them dedicated to PHP development. Please keep this and other threads on topic, or start another if you wish to discuss something else.

Thanks,
