Use web interface to answer LiveSupport chat. - 30-09-2006, 04:42 PM

Per Varun's instructions, I'm adding the poll to the forum for staff members to see.

Fly Spray Request: #1113.
Request Posted: December 19, 2005.
Subject: Ability to answer chat requests through Web interface like in v2 instead of WinApp.

Details:
Quote:
Please add the ability to use the chat interface without a windows desktop app like we could in v2.

With less features, but like in liveresponse v2, allow staff to answer chat requests from any computer anywhere, with no obligation to install another program on a workstation. Only the browser and internet connection would be required. So that we could use Mac and Linux workstations to answer Chat requests from anywhere again.

Please vote if you could use this feature.

Thanks!

Eddie

That adds to the usefullness of a web client since it will allow us to use the product from anywhere and be independant of the OS and not being be tied to a specific workstation. So it won't matter if the OS is Linux, MacOS or Windows.

Why not build an ajax application?
Like meebo.com has for msn, icq and other chat systems which polls the server in the background. That would work with most/all browsers on any modern platform.

Varun did state on the forums that he's working on an AJAX solution for livechat.

As per Ryan's post in the Announcement section, v3.10.00 UNSTABLE has an AJAX based chat functionality. You can give it a try if you want to. This is the post I am referring to -- http://forums.kayako.com/showthread....7465#post47465

I don't think you understand the thread.

I think the OP and everyone else are looking for a way to get away from the "Windows App" and just use their browser like other live help applications.

Start from the beginning and re read the thread so that you have a better understanding before trying to raise your post count or put your massive signature in front of eyes
