link language menu to custom departments - 01-10-2005, 01:21 AM

Wondering if anyone has a solution for this. I posted this a few months ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Varun mentioned it could not be done at the moment. maybe now?

I have setup multiple departments and custom templates for a multilingual helpdesk (English, Spanish and Portuguese). Each language obviously has differing content.

At the moment if a customer is in the English helpdesk and changes the language to Portuguese it just translates the page, still showing the English content.

How/where do I alter the code on the drop-down language menu so it's linked to the custom templates/departments I created?

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,
So you basically want to reset the language to default one of group when the group is changed?

Regards,

Link Language menu and clear cookies - 04-10-2005, 04:20 PM

Hi Varun, Thanks for the reply.

The issue is that I have Spanish speaking customers that inadvertantly go to the English helpdesk department and try to find a solution. I have a link to the Spanish department on my home site but they never find it. If they navigate to the English first their cookies are set so that even if they DO find the Spanish Department it will show them the english content (unless of course their cookies expire or are cleared).

Also, if they choose to change the language via the drop down menu it only changes the helpdesk language, not the content.

Ideally, when they change the language via the drop down menu I would like it to clear their cookies and send them to the associated language department.

I have phpbb Forum site that autodetects the set browser language? Is this possible or easy to do?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks, Mike
