Detailed Install Requirements - 10-08-2006, 12:46 PM

Hi,

I was checking out Kayako a couple of months ago and, after a lot of thought ended up deciding to go with another package. After checking their requirements and even having them run a script on my host before buying, I found out that they do not run on my host (I am with Yahoo hosting). While I work through if that is a major problem I was wondering if someone could help me with the DETAILED requirements of Kayako. In this case, I had the right webserver (Apache), the right version of MySQL and the right version of PHP. But, Yahoo does not allow the upload of .htaccess files- so I am unable to run the application on the Yahoo host.

Does anyone know if Kayako is compatible with Yahoo hosting?

Thanks,
Brian

No clue but you can email Sales@Kayako.com and get a 7 day trial Download license so you can test it on your server before you buy.

Not sure, but you may need to sign up with a (for lack of a better term) "professional" hosting company. I think the popular "consumer" hosting companies such as Earthlink, Yahoo, etc. do not have provisions for running programs that require custom .htacess, php, MySql. They might, however, have "business" hosting packages that allow more access and customization.

Thanks for the replies. I do have a business hosting package with Yahoo. I have mySQL and php. The problem I ran into with the other package was with the .htaccess file. That seems to be the hang-up with the other package. My guess is I'll run into the same thing with Kayako. But, if not, that would be great. Since I'll have to pay someone to install for me, I'd prefer to find out BEFORE doing a trial. Surely, someone at Kayako knows if I need to upload an .htaccess file.

Another solution - we set up a separate domain just for support...mycompanysupport.com for example. Host at Innerplanet for $10 a month. Pay Kayako to install. They had it up and perfect in 3 days including piping.
