Forgive my lack of insight but could this setup be possible: Say google apps is setup in mydomain.com and is set to forward all incoming emails to a kayako setup at mysupportdomain.com. Couldn't I just set up IMAP to google apps from Kayako to respond to emails through the google apps at mydomain.com? Am I missing something here? I currently check (via pop3) my email with outlook on my bellsouth account and the emails show up as coming from support@mydomain.com (which is how I'd want them to show up. If this works then I'm a Kayako esupport customer! Thanks Tangot |

If I am right in understanding what you are wanting to do, you would need to setup say support@yourdomain.com to get pulled into Kayako. You would then need to setup alerts to say support2@yourdomain.com and check this inbox. You could then reply directly to these alerts that come through.

I didn't explain myself correct. I'm talking about 2 domains. The first domain "mydomain.com" hosted at google apps. The second domain, mysupportdomain.com hosted elsewhere with kayako installed. All email comes in to the first domain at google apps and fowarded to the second domain. The kayako at the second domain then sends the outgoing email via IMAP to the first domain at google apps. Hence the email appears to be coming from support@thefirstdomain.com Wouldn't this avoid having to put up a cron job in the second domain with kayako on it and have incoming emails there immediately (instead of having to wait for the next cron job? |

Would it not be easier to just have POP setup on the support@mydomain.com email account and pull mail from that directly into Kayako? You would need a cron job but there is nothing wrong with a cron job running every couple of minutes to get them there quicker. You can do it your way if you like. You would just need to set the outgoing email address correctly and that would be the one that outgoing emails get sent from. It doesn't matter if it is hosted at Google Apps. You can still pull mail from POP or IMAP...

Oh right. That may be the case but I know Kayako does support POP SSL and IMAP SSL so I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. A cron job is needed to pull mail into Kayako from POP or IMAP. You can use Online Task Scheduler (Cron Hosting) - webbasedcron.com if you can't run local crons. Mail is sent on demand via SMTP. It doesn't require the cron. Well then this would be the ideal solution for everyone here struggling to get kayako to work with google apps 1. domain "mydomain.com" hosted on google apps 2. second domain called "mysupportdomain.com hosted on another server. 3. mydomain.com fowards all incoming email to the pop3 server at mysupportdomain.com 4. Kayako pipes in the email (so now waiting for crons or taxing servers on shared hosting) 5. Kayako replys via smtp pop3 directly through mydomain (hosted at google apps). Will this work? Will this show support email as coming from mydomain.com (the one hosted at google apps). If so, then this solves everyones problem doesn't it? Alfred |

Yes, it will work but personally not the way I would do it. Too many things to go wrong.

I also use google apps for my email and this is how I have it setup 1) domain "mydomain.com" hosted on google apps 2) kayako pulls mydomain.com's emails using IMAP SSL every 3 minutes via cron job 3) kayako replies on demand via mydomain.com |

Yes, it does have an auto cron when you login but only when you login so you could have mail not getting pulled in for days if you don't login.
