Question eSupport with internal mail server? - 13-09-2006, 07:53 AM

I'm considering setting up eSupport for the company I work for. I have used it in a previous company I worked for with great success.

Our email setup is such that all our emails get delivered into our internal email server instead of our web server.

What I would like to know is can Kayako be setup to run on the internal intranet or does it have to run on our web server? Also if running on our web server, how would I go about getting email delivered to that server?

Another issue is that if its a web based system, if our internet connection goes down (which it does), then no one would be able to access the ticket queues.

If we instead install it on the intranet then I wonder if we will get other problems like links being inserted that point to our local intranet address.

Thanks for any help,

Simon

Well all depends if you want it strictly on your local intranet then thats easy as you would set the product url as http://localhost or http://IP then anyone on your network can access it... Only thing if you want people on the web to access it they wont be able to as the product url is set as http://localhost will tell them to try localhost so it will try to find the site on their own PC... now http://IP may work as long as its a public/internet IP and not a Internal IP such as 192.168.15.1

So if you want people around the world to be able to access it then would need to be installed on a webserver...
