Extra domain license; + updates ? - 24-01-2008, 10:57 AM

Hi,

Now the price of additional licenses is twice as high as it was before, is there also 6 months of updates involved for this new domain ?

I don't know if this was the same before with the lower pricing, but it seems reasonable and it's not displayed anywhere.

Does someone has a clue ?

Yes, the price has been increased.

Additional licecences are "tagged on" to your initial licence and you only pay renewals once on the initial licence.

Hi Craig,

Yes, I understood that part, but the question still romains.... does the extra domainlicense comes with 6 months of updates.

I must say, the prices are increased very much on this part.

Hi Thijs,

You do not need an extra support package for each additional domain; you only need to renew support once, and it counts for all of your domains.

but to answer your question if you currently have a SupportSuite License which support/upgrade ends on say 01/30/2008 when you purchase a Additional License does it change to expire on 07/30/2008 no you don't get extra support/upgrade time for Additional Domain License

I don't want to be rude or so, but for that price, comparing to the other prices I think a support update of at least 3 months should be fair.

Maybe only updates and no support, also understandable.

Actually I think its fair the way it is... just see it this way you can pay $99.95 for Additional Domain License or they could not even offer Additional Domain Licenses and you could then pay full price $499.95 for the second license.. So I think $99.95 is more then fair. You could pay the $99.95 for the Additional Domain License and then $49.95 for the support/upgrade 6mo renewal and pay $149.90 and you would still be saving $350.05

Hi Steve,

Yes true, but you also need such license to run the same helpdesk system on a different domainname.

Example:

You want to use:

support.domainname.com
helpdesk.domainname.com
help.domainname.com

Just that you don't confuse customers, that's expensive for the same target if you ask me.

For a total different codebase and so on, I agree.

well you could pay $499.95 x 3 = $1,499.85 but you wouldn't you would pay $499.94 + $99.95 + $99.95 = $699.85 there by saving $799.90 which I think is very generous..

you can install just on support.domainname.com and then have helpdesk.domainname.com and help.domainname.com just redirect to support.domainname.com if they are gonna be the same target helpdesk..... But if your gonna have 3 totally different helpdesks yes you will need 1 Main License and 2 Additional Domain License

Notice: The Additional Domains must be your domains so no reselling to your clients...

By owning the names, they must have the same WHOIS information by the way.

Subdomains under the same domain always have the same WHOIS ofcourse

I wonder where there is no money involved, I think you can even give someone a helpdesk. It's in no way possible to check who is using that helpdesk anyhow.

Ah yes, sorry, missed the fact you were installing it on a subdomain.

If I need(ed) it was for a total different domain, but I wanted to start the suggestion why the pricing should be like this and you have 3 subdomains and just one DB and don't want to use a redirect.

Because you can make just one subdomain install and let the other domains run exactly the same version by having two extra vhosts to the same folder where the main install is.

In that way, I don't see why extra subdomains need to be that expensive.

Ok, there needs to be a rule and this is the most effective one to have users not installed 3 seperate systems and tell Kayako they run subdomains on the same installation, but there should be some check around it.

I personally think it is fine the way it is now. Extra domain licences at 20% of the initial purchase price is a good deal.
Contact Kayako about using 3 front ends on the one database tho, they may class it as one install and give you a new key. Not sure tho.

I do not believe they will. As far as I know and till the time I worked for Kayako; their policies do not accept such requests
