A Few questions - 03-10-2008, 11:58 AM

Hi

I am currently looking for a helpdesk function that would support an organisation of up to about 2000 and have a few questions around your eSupport product.

1) I have about 100 internal users in my Active Directory, the other 1900 would not be. Can I use Login Share for the 100 and have the other 1900 register at the login page?

2) Can I 'hide' everything on the 'front page' except login and register? I would need to put the product on a public IP, but due to the nature of our business I wouldn't want people outside our organisation reading the knowledge base. - RESOLVED (Manage Groups and remove all widgets except Register)

I'm sure I'll have more questions later as I'm using the 30 day trial, but up to press - like what I see

TJ

1) Yes

2) Yes you would login to Staff Control Panel go to Users and then Manage Groups choose the "Guest" group and disable all the widgets except for Register. Now only thing people can is Register or Login.. If they login then they can see everything else.

yes, but how? - 20-11-2008, 02:21 AM

i've been searching the forums and i see several people ask this question.

Can you have users both be able to Register via the register option on the main page or those with Active Directory accounts to use their AD credentials to log in?

All I see are responses saying simply "Yes".

My question is, precisely, how do you enable this?

When I go to Templates -> Manage Groups -> Settings and change the LoginShare to Active Directory, the registration link on the main page goes away. When I switch to SupportSuite Login Routine, LoginShare doesn't work, but the Register link is there. Am I missing something? Do I need to customize the template?

I want to allow users who do not have an AD account yet (new hire) or are having password issues to be able to submit a ticket with an alternate e-mail address.

I am running 3.30.02 and already tested that my LoginShare to AD works fine.

thanks.

You cannot have users registering AND a LoginShare unless you create different template groups (Admin CP -> Templates -> Groups) and then link users to yourdomain.com/helpdesk/?group=GROUPNAMEHERE
