pre-requisites for installation of esupport - 08-08-2007, 09:57 PM

I was asked by my companies network admin if there were any special MySQL or PHP modules that need to be compiled for esupport to run? We would be running on Solaris 10.
As well, can we use PHP 5.x or higher? Has there been any reported problems with this version? Same question for MySQL 5.x or higher.

Thanks in advance

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

eSupport requires that PHP be compiled with mbstring and IMAP support. SupportSuite is indeed compatible with PHP5 and MySQL5.

further PHP help - 16-08-2007, 09:12 PM

Jamie thanks for your response.
I am doing an install on a non networked test computer. I have Solaris 10, MySQL, Apache installed so far. I am doing the PHP install (PHP 5.2.3) and I am very green. I am at the point of running the configure command: "./configure --prefix=/opt/php --with-apxs2=/opt/apache/bin/apxs"
In your reply to me you said that I need to have mbstring and IMAP support compiled. At what point do I compile these? After I run the configure command??
With the Zend optimizer or IonCube, do those get left until the point of the eSupport install?? Do you have any instructions for the install of eSupport for Unix/Solaris?

Thanks,

Aaron

Just add the following after --with-apxs2=/opt/apache/bin/apxs :-
Quote:
--enable-mbstring --with-imap

OK, so I have try this command with the extra info you provided and it gets to the end of the process. After I type make, it says make: Fatal error: No arguements to build. I can't provide the whole log to you but during the configure process as it was checking it returned a number of "no's" in the first part and then the rest was mostly Yes's or OK's. In the last section titled 'Configuring extensions' it said:

checking whether to enable LIBXML support... yes
checking libxml2 install dir... no
checking for xml2-config path... /usr/bin/xml2-config
configure: error: libxml2 version 2.6.11 or greater required.

P.S. this is the complete command that I tried:

./configure --prefix=/opt/php --with-apxs2=/opt/apache/bin/apxs --enable-mbstring --with-imap

Was this correct?
Am I missing something?

Thanks again for any help you can provide

Aaron

Thanks for all who helped! The answer was in the question.

" configure: error: libxml2 version 2.6.11 or greater required. "
I had to install libxml2 first.

Secondary point: for compiling PHP with IMAP support Craig Bass said:

"Just add the following after --with-apxs2=/opt/apache/bin/apxs "--enable-mbstring --with-imap"

That actually lead to an error:
configure: error: utf8_mime2text() has new signature, but
U8T_CANONICAL is missing. This should not happen. Check
config.log for additional information.

What I needed to do was: --with-imap=/path/to/imap

This is from the PHP manual on IMAP located at http://ca/php.net/imap.

Thanks Craig for pointing me in the right direction.
