Redundancy & Availability - 14-01-2008, 05:04 PM

One question that we need to answer is the issue of backups, redundancy and availability

Is it possible to purchase a license for our domain.com, and have the same license running on an internal server - such that if for some reason our domain.com is unavailable, that we would be able to restore the database to the internal server and operate that on a temporary basis?

So for example

1) Incremental DB and attachments backup to locally accessible server
2) If live domain is unavailable for any reason, we load the db and files onto the local version temporarily
3) Upload the difference from local to live once live becomes accessible again.

Can the license be expanded for this usage, or would you need to purchase another
license purely for redundancy?

Hi GoneShootin,

Our sales department would be able to arrange that for you; if your additional license requriement is for a local server, there won't be any charge (you can refer to me / this thread when contacting us about this).

Contact sales and they should be able to sort this for you.

Extremely quick replies!

Would this be limited to http://localhost, or would there be the option to use http://10.10.10.x and so on...

If the license is registered for "localhost" then it will not work for http://127.0.0.1 or vice-versa

Ok - so say the development license was for localhost - would other internal computers be able to access that kayako installation using the development machines IP address?

Any client users can access the installation; the license only restricts where the software is installed, not what addresses access it.

Hi Guys

The sales team are telling me the developer license would require an additional purchase [much like the subdomain pricing] if I wanted an owned developer license. All he is offering me at the moment is at most a 15 "trial" license.

Jamie I may need to contact you directly on this one!

Sales are still unwilling to add an "owned" developer license. I have no problem with spending 99 dollars for the extra license- but I would prefer to get a definitive answer on this one way or the other.

The best they can do for me is a 15 day version?
