subdomain installtion - 25-11-2007, 07:38 PM

Hi,

My company is dealing with various domains of solutions. and we are planning to have kayako to provide support to the clients ., as we have found its best suited for us.

now my question is that, if we have a owned license, can we install multiple copy of the same as in subdomain on a same ( single ) domain . As in our support scenario, it is the best way to operate .

ex. for webhosting can we set up as hosting.samedomain.com and another installtion on designing.samedomain.com

Thanks

Hi there,

I am afraid not. Licenses are per domain, which includes subdomains - for each installation you need a new license.

However, you will be able to make use of the additional domain license for $99.95 which allows you to install another copy and under a different domain.

Hi Jamie ,

Thanks for your quick reply. Can this additional domain license be included as different subdomains on same domain scenario, as that the best scenario we are looking for . If not is there any workaround of this ( paid solutions, of course )

Regard

Hi sobuze,

I am not sure what you mean.

Here is an example for the SupportSuite owned license:

subdomain1.domain.com $499.95 SupportSuite owned license
subdomain2.domain.com +$99.95 additional domain license
subdomain3.domain.com +$99.95 additional domain license
subdomain4.domain.com +$99.95 additional domain license#

And so on. A subdomain = domain as far as licensing of Kayako software is concerned, they are regarded as completely the same.

Glad to be of help Just a note that the additional domain licenses can only be used if they are for the same business or person.

Is it actually possible to have a working mail parser in a system that works from a subfolder?

IE:
subdomain.domain.com
subdomain.domain.com/test/

each of them works with different databases and different mail parsers

Does the licence allow this and is it possible to get the parser working on both?

I am afraid not.

eSupport and LiveResponse licenses are on per instance and installation basis, running multiple copies on one license is not allowed and is against the license agreement.

For more information please create a ticket in Support department.

That should work fine and yes Kayako's license will allow you to run the software without any licensing issues. Your email parser too should work fine provided the paths are set correctly incase of email piping

I contacted Kayako support and they said that it should work and it was allowed with only one license.

Cool, this means that I can run multiple installations using one licance provided they are on same URL.

e.g.

support.example.com
support.example.com/1
support.example.com/2
support.example.com/3
support.example.com/N

So can I have N number of installations? Can someone from Kayako staff confirm this?

I may do this for different products or may be for different clients all together
