SupportSuite reporting. - 01-08-2007, 10:30 PM

Good evening,

We're looking at purchasing your product however we've noticed a very important part of the the product is lacking which is reporting.

Being a helpdesk, reporting to me is crucial as I need to make reports for billing purposes.

Before I purchase your product can you tell me when reporting will be improved? If it's going to take a while is it possible to query the database myself with a few SQL queries and gather the data myself and is there any documentation on the database schema? Or are there any scripts that you know that people have developed to help in this area?

Basically I need reports for billing purposes, and this is the only thing that is putting me off.

It would be possible to do this with a database query yes. If you are not able to do this yourself, I suggest you look in the Marketplace board (http://forums.kayako.com/f76/) and choose a developer to assist you. I recomend SoftAir.

I'm only just exploring this, but I think you can use an ODBC connection from within excel to pull data from the DB. You may need to google to get the connector for MySQL.

Having said that, my limited testing has produced mixed results (fields come back with junk sometimes... which may be something I'm doing wrong, but I haven't had time to debug)

I'm no expert in this at all so I can't offer much more ATM, hopefully someone in the community who is more skilled with this kind of thing (cough ...Sheep) will take on reporting

If you figure it out, please share.

Features I need asap:
1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought the software. I'm fairly efficient with SQL queries to hopefully with a few inner joins etc I'll be able to gather the stats I need. If I figure it out to a point where I can supply a script I will be sure to share it, no problems.

Yes, please post it in the developers forum if you manage to work something out. Therer are many users who would find this useful.
