Owned License
What domain for the license? - 21-05-2008, 11:43 AM

I am thinking about purchasing SupportSuite, but I have a question about the domain that I should register under.

Let's say that I have an online business called: mybusiness.com

I want my customers to use LiveResponse and access the customer support portal via that site.

However, for my internal staff, I want them to access the eSupport tickets via our internal server.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

If you want to use it on say mybusiness.com/helpdesk/, you should licence mybusiness.com as your domain. If you want it say helpdesk.mybusiness.com, you should licence helpdesk.mybusiness.com.

The domains are totally separate to LiveResponse which you can add the code onto any domain regardless of the licenced domain.

Thanks for the reply Craig.

I guess I should clarify.

My business domain is hosted with an ISP; however, I would like to install eSupport on my local machine (which has a different domain than my business domain), so that I can have more control over DB backups, and my staff would be able to access the server faster.

So, my customers would need to access the support portal via the ISP domain. And my internal staff would need to access the staff control panel via the internal machine with a different domain.

Given this scenario, do I register the license under my external business domain, or the internal domain where eSupport will be installed?

I guess I'm just confused how the license uses the domain name to restrict what can and cannot be done.

You will need two domains in your licence key as one will show a key error if the other one is licensed and the user tries to access that one.

Contact customer services (http://support.kayako.com) and ask about this. They *may* be able to give you a second domain free.
