Angry (SWIFTFOUR-431) Delete Comments Spam - 08-05-2008, 02:36 PM

Hopefully one day you can add this- I have been requesting these for the last 2 years.

Comments are primarily used by spammers to add spam to support suite. We do not show the comments and have to go there and delete them. The solution given by the support team is to remove the comment by deleting the lines from the templates.

The challenge is every time we update we have to go and make changes to the template.

I do not understand how hard it is to add a field that simply says: do not show comments in the forms. This way it is independent of the template and upgrades.

This is a major problem.. we have over 10,000 message in each of the fields that accept comments. Considering there is no way to select these comments and batch delete them we have to delete them one at a time. Support says we should write a query to delete them from the database. I really don't want to take the risk of screwing something up. It should not be hard to simply put a checkbox next to each comment so they all can be selected at once and then deleted. Deleting one at a time will take an entire day..

Another major problem with templates:

We are TRUSTe certified. They require a link to the privacy statement on every page of our site where we ask for people's information. The Kayako support suite was inspected by TRUSTe and it fails their test.

Customized footer for the chat is one of those cases that needs to be fixed. Again the problem is one has to adjust the templates and then the template disappears with each upgrade.

Why not add a footer in the database for each page and the chat window. once in the database it becomes independent of the template and upgrades will not affect it. This way we can always stay compliant with requirements.

Thanks for considering these suggestions.. these features will hep us a great deal and should be very easy to implement.

Regards,
Kami

I will second this request / comment.

I came back after some months in hopes of finding a real solution to the problem of thousands of spam messages in the comments.. to no avail (unless i missed it, in which case, sorry and please point me to a real solution)

PLEASE help with this annoyance....

Captchas are now implemented for comments on basically everything, to prevent incoming spam. I will add a feature request to the bug tracker about a more user-friendly way to deal with spam that's already in place.

You can follow the progress of this feature request, if you want to, here:

John,

Is there some reason we can't set an option in the admin area to disable comments? We don't need them nor do we want the security hole of comments open.

Same as Neal, we don't ever want comments to be possible. I've edited all the templates and removed the PHP file that writes them to get rid of the ability, but each upgrade puts it back...best if it's possible to simply shut if off with a setting.

please make it a priority

deleting hundreds of comments is not an effective use of my time. I want to disable them. or at least add a batch delete

funny that this forum has a captcha. apparently you understand the important of it...but won't put it in your own product for your customers? people been asking for help with this problem for YEARS
