Automatic Updates - 30-05-2007, 08:09 PM

It would be nice to see automatic updates of the actual PHP / MySQL package (ie you click update, it checks for available updates, downloads the file package from Kayako's servers and updates everything).

I strongly disagree with putting this forward as a feature request - what about custom file permission, file modifications etc?

You can always add an option to enable/disable auto update in the Admin CP.

I don't mean totally automatic. I mean the user doesn't have to go to the members area, download the package, upload it then go to the setup pages.

I mean go to a page in the admin area and select which newer version they wish to update to.

My other suggestion for using the Zip Class would solve the file permission problems and also, it should check all files are of the correct permissions before even downloading the update. Once the user sets the correct permissions, they can do as many updates as they want without any problems.
