Changing the User associated with a ticket. - 05-06-2007, 12:53 AM

I am just wondering if there is any easy way to change the user associated with a ticket.

eg.

- I have a ticket open for user.name@email.com, who is a registered user.
- I want to re-assign the ticket, so that it is associated with user2.name2@email.com - a completely different user in my database.

Now, I can go to the "Edit" tab on the ticket and change the Email address / Full Name, however there is a major problem with this. Even after I change those, the userid field in swtickets is still the original user.

This is a problem for me, as when I go into the Database to pull out Billing reports for my clients at the end of each month, tickets that have apparently been moved from one user to another are still linked at the database level (by userid) to the original user.

Is there a way to do this without having to go into the database each time?

Not as far as I can tell.

This is needed functionality, if not in the interface, at least via the db.

I'm no DBA, but it would seem that with knowledge of the DB structure, a query could be built that would allow you to change a clients email address and maintain referential integrity. Our DBA's write this kind of stuff for our product (MSSQL based) all the time.

Features I need asap:
1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.
Cheers!

Maybe move this to Feature Requests Jamie. Would be a handy feature for lots of people.
