KayakoMobile Public Beta 4 Available

I am pleased to announce that the Public Beta 4 build of KayakoMobile is now available for your personal enjoyment.

If you are not familiar with KayakoMobile, please read the Public Beta 1 Release information by clicking here. It is recommended that you read the Beta 1 Release information in its entirety before reading the following information or downloading Public Beta 4.

New Functionality:
--------------------
The following features or functionality is all-new in the Public Beta 4 build.

• Context Menus: Tap-hold on several items such as Tickets in the main View, Notes/Billing/Posts in the Info tab, and Billing entries in the Billing tab will bring up a menu with specific functionality for the item under the stylus.
• Ticket Deletion: Functionality has been added to mark Tickets for deletion upon the next synchronization. This functionality has not been added to the server-side software, so this feature is non-functional as of yet.
• Sort Data: In the main Ticket View, the 3rd column where the Due Date is normally displayed now displays data according to the current Sort Type. (e.g. Last Activity, Department, Status, Priority)
• Priority: Added as a Sort Type in the main Ticket View
• Post type images: Each reply to a ticket in the Info pane is marked with its associated Type marker (staff, user, third party, recipient)
• Idle prevention: Now prevents the device from turning off while a synchronization is in progress
• Property changes: Changes made to Tickets now are reflected in the main Ticket View

Missing Functionality (TODO List):
----------------------
The following items that are destined to be in the Final Release are currently unfinished:

• Attachments: You will not be able to download or send attachments (file and handwriting)
• Localization: You will only be able to use KayakoMobile in English

Beta Tester Information:
----------------------
Special instructions to anyone who is interesting in testing Public Beta 4 in order to improve the final product through feedback:

• If you have suggestions, comments, or questions about KayakoMobile (Beta 1, 2, 3 or 4), please contact me directly. My e-mail address can be found at the end of this or any of my other forum posts.
• BE PROACTIVE: The quality and usability of the final product relies heavily on your feedback. Don't assume someone else will request the feature you've been wanting, or that someone else will file that bug report!
• Be merciless! You should TRY to crash/break/trick KayakoMobile during this and all other testing phases. This will ensure the most stable and high quality Final Release. Do unexpected and uncommon things with KayakoMobile whenever possible.

Download Information:
----------------------
The Public Beta 4 distribution, like the Beta builds before it, is not an installer package, but a stand-alone binary file. You will need to use ActiveSync or some other method to copy the file to your PPC.

The first time you run Public Beta 4, you will need to provide the following information in the settings dialog:

• Server URL
• User Name
• Password
• Database File Name (can be anything you wish)

Requirements:
----------------------

• If you are upgrading from a previous Beta build, you will need to delete your database file, so that it may be re-created by KayakoMobile. This will be done automatically.
• Requires the latest build of the server software (currently 3.0.80 CVS)
• Requires Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Edition OR PPC2003
• Requires 64MB (total) of RAM and approximately 600 KB of ROM space

Public Beta 4 Package:
----------------------
Note that two distinctly different builds are provided. You should download the build that was made specifically for the OS on your device. If you are unsure what version of Windows CE you're running, you can find out by performing the following steps:

1. Tap on the Windows System Menu (upper left corner of screen)
2. Tap Settings
3. Tap on the System tab
4. Tap on About
5. The version of your Windows CE software will be displayed

Note: The PPC2003 build will run on both Windows Mobile 5 and PPC2003 devices, but the Windows Mobile 5 build will only run on Windows Mobile 5.
