KayakoMobile Public Beta 5 Available

Well, it's finally here. This is the 5th and final Beta build of KayakoMobile that will be distributed before we release an RC1 and begin selling KayakoMobile from the Members Area.

Changes since Beta 4:

The following things have changed or been added since the Beta 4 release.

• Attachments: Both incoming and outgoing attachments are now functional. Note that ALL attachments for the specified ticket will be downloaded (except attachments that exceed the maximum size requested).
• Handwriting: Handwriting attachments are now fully functional (saves as PNG)
• Memory optimizations
• Speed optimizations
• Database optimizations
• Bug fixes
• Main menu re-arrangement for WM5 build
• Main window forces SIP down when activated
• PPC2003 build now has cancel button for sync progress
• Darker colors are used in the ticket screen on VGA devices
• UPDATE (5.2) : Find Ticket functionality
• UPDATE (5.2) : BUGFIX: Won't freeze in settings dialog
• UPDATE (5.4) : Contains ability to view and delete all changes currently in the database
• UPDATE (5.4) : BUGFIX: Didn't delete Forward entries before after successful sync
• UPDATE (5.4) : BUGFIX: Page selector didn't handle double-digit entries well
• UPDATE (5.4) : When a ticket is deleted, its associated attachments are also deleted
• UPDATE (5.4) : BUGFIX: Replies and Notes with the character ' were not inserted properly

Missing Functionality (TO DO List):

The following items that are destined to be in the Final Release are currently unfinished:

• Localization: You will only be able to use KayakoMobile in English
• Graphics: There are still only placeholder graphics in use

Beta Tester Information:

Special instructions to anyone who is interesting in testing Public Beta 5 in order to improve the final product through feedback:

• If you have suggestions, comments, or questions about KayakoMobile (Beta 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5), please contact me directly. My e-mail address can be found at the end of this or any of my other forum posts.
• BE PROACTIVE: The quality and usability of the final product relies heavily on your feedback. Don't assume someone else will request the feature you've been wanting, or that someone else will file that bug report!
• Be merciless! You should TRY to crash/break/trick KayakoMobile during this and all other testing phases. This will ensure the most stable and high quality Final Release. Do unexpected and uncommon things with KayakoMobile whenever possible.

Installation Instructions:

If you are unclear on the process of installing KayakoMobile on your device, please read the following.

The Beta 5.4 release of KayakoMobile is distributed in two forms:

• CAB installer
• Wizard-based Desktop installer

The CAB installer is a stand-alone file that you copy to your mobile device and install directly on your device by tapping on it.

The Desktop installer is a normal Windows program that you can run from your host (desktop, laptop, etc.) computer that your mobile device is connected to. This requires that the device is plugged in and turned on, and that ActiveSync is running.

CAB Installer Instructions:

1. Download the CAB file to your PC
2. Start ActiveSync and choose the "Explore" option, which will open the file explorer for your device.
3. Drag and drop the CAB file in to the mobile device's file explorer window
4. Go to your mobile device and tap on the CAB file in the file explorer to start the installation.
5. Once the installation process has completed, you can access KayakoMobile through the start menu (Programs) or in /Program Files/KayakoMobile.

Desktop Installer Instructions:

1. Download the EXE file to your PC
2. Execute the EXE file like you would any other program
3. Follow the instructions on your screen

** You WILL need to delete your KayakoMobile database file before running the Beta 5 build!! **
** You WILL need to be running .90 CVS server software to use this build! **
