New BETA add-on releases!

As you may or may not know, the development team has been hard at work implementing a redesigned network core for all of our add-on products.

We have had several problems with the old design of this network core. Evidently, there are some bugs in the WinINet portion of Windows, which we were previously using to transmit data to and from web servers. These bugs seemed to have only become apparent with the upgrade to Internet Explorer 7.

The symptoms of these bugs were things like receiving what appeared to be an “empty” response from the server. As a result of the program thinking it received an empty response, it would disconnect from the server, interrupting anything the user might be doing at the time. Obviously, this is a rather severe problem for mission-critical software.

This newly designed network core is now available in our latest BETA release of our add-on products.

In addition to the new network core, we have fixed several bugs, and added several features requested by some Official Kayako Testers.

Keep in mind that these releases are BETA, not STABLE. Their performance is not guaranteed, but it is still beneficial for everyone for you to upgrade to these builds, even if temporarily — so that we may discover more flaws that need to be mended before marking them as STABLE. It is especially recommended that you upgrade to these builds if you are one of the people experiencing the empty response bug.
