Users have complained of being randomly disconnected from LiveResponse over the past two weeks, and we’ve been hard at work trying to determine the cause and ultimately rectify the issue. I’m personally relieved to announce that the latest hotfix build, 3.0.4.30, includes a bug fix that will hopefully solve the problem for our users.
Apparently, although this is a technical detail none of you may be interested in, there’s a strange bug in Windows’ internet routines where a certain operation randomly fails when you make too many requests. The new build of the WinApp does the updates just as before, but it retries the connection up to 20 times before failing — which is more than enough for anyone to ever notice (as long as your server is working properly, of course).
I’d like to thank Tony Baird for offering us access to his server to test the problem, and dealing with the thousands of requests we hit it with!
