Adding varibles to templates - 25-04-2008, 12:12 PM

I am trying to get the user side of kayako to fit into the main content section of my websites layout. Basically what I guess this would consist of would be changing the header, footer, css and whatnot to match our websites which is not a huge deal, just annoying.

The problem is that I need to query tables on another database to grab this information and add the variables into the smarty templates so that it can all be viewed.

So my question is, how do I do this? The templates are stored in the database so I don't see how I can add more variables to them that would be recognized.

Template variables are not defined in one place unfortunately. They are dotted around numerous PHP files. Best thing to do is to do a find and replace on current variables to find out which PHP files they are stored in.

I know this is a really late reply but I now have really started trying to edit the templates. Can you tell me what file would be setting the variables and calling the main header template? I want to add in a bunch of variables into this template but I don't even know where to start looking.

Please, can someone at least tell me the file that I would have to edit to be able to add variables that would be accepted in the user header template?
