customization questions - 22-05-2006, 11:21 PM

i need to do a bunch of modifications to our kayako install. is it easy or should i consider another mechanism?

i need to modify the search query so it's only querying Knowledgebase items. any suggestions? kayako says it's not possible.

also need to turn off certain links - registration is not required - troubleshooter can go - don't need downloads link either. how do i remove these links?

and how do i redirect the News link so it's pointing to our site?

can i change the colors in the search engine box? don't dig the blue.

thanks for any advice...

aloha,
michelle

ok, i'm beginning to think customizations are too difficult. so why bother? - 23-05-2006, 03:40 AM

i'm trying to do some pretty simple stuff. tried looking for documentation. nothing available. tried purusing through the forums. everyone seems like they're searching for the same answers.

am i missing something?

how do i customize kayako?

where do i start to ramp up and start making enhancements so our support center is easier to navigate?

Hello,

Your first question, search query to only searchs the Knowledgebase is really easy, (I'm guessing this is for the client side, correct?) If so you can go into the template called navbar and take out drop down items so that it only shows the Knowledgebase..

Your second question, would be in the file called widgets.php which controls the Register/View Tickets, Submit a Ticket, Knowledgebase, Troubleshooter, News and Downloads links. This file also controls the links for each button above.

From,
Adam

Look under includes/Widgets/Widgets.php file. Also search forums for "widgets" to know how to customize/add new items.

Hope that helps.

I still have no idea how to edit the news link. I've looked everywhere for the widgets.php file. I'm running the hosted version so where do I go. the Admin CP? so confused.

I'd also love to know if this widgets.php file is accessible on the hosted version, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You will need to purchase the owned license to get access to the open source code. All other licenses will give you access to the closed version, ie no source code

i do believe - 15-06-2006, 11:49 PM

i do believe varun sometimes will send you the single file in an unencoded format. But dont suspect you can do huge modifications to code and settings in a closed source version. if you have a leased one i may be able to assist you.
