1. I disagree with you Jamie as the company has obviously folded up now it has no staff implied by the fact their domain has expired and they have not renewed it in 20 days. I see no harm in pointing people elsewhere to get them without directly linking to anything.
2. They were not really under any licence. You just contacted them and they gave them out free of charge.

This doesn't matter; the fact is, the code is still someone's intellectual property and was not released with an explicit redistribution license.

Correct - there was no license. As such, the copyrights still belong to Softair or an owning entity until they say otherwise.

Since the copyrights still belong to the author, and someone just asked for the illegal distribution of said files/mods, there isn't any need to leave this open.
