1) Admin CP > Languages > Manage Languages > Edit
2) Admin CP > Languages > Manage Phrases > "charset" phrase
3) locale/en-us/en-us.php file, Suche nach 'charset' => 'UTF-8'

@adolleschal:

We have "umlauts" displayed properly now.

1. Make sure mysql is using charset "latin1" (v4.1)

2. Make sure the php.ini is using charset "iso-8859-1".

3. Make sure you edit the <supportsuite>/locale/en-us.php
and change all first 3 "UTF-8" to "iso-8859-1".

4. Go to the Admin CP and check the language phrases.
Look for "UTF-8" and change to "iso-8859-1" (approx.
on page 7,25,65).

5. Stop/start all involved services (mysql/apache/apache2).

I might write a proper howto. Just want to leave a short note here.

Cheers,

Marvin (3.00.33 CVS)

just to push this up again :-)

is it still true that the best thing one can do is to change from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1 at the mentioned paces?

I've seen that UTF 8 does work, the only problem is the stuuf already in the database. Is there any way to change the content of the database?

Of course you can change the database stuff, if you have access to it.

I do have the following problem: When I search for a contact named "Björn whatever" Kayako won't find him - in the Database it says "Björn whatever".. But if I change the "ö" to "ö" then it shows that damn square we all know

I also set the encoding to ISO from UTF, but it's not working. The point is, I think, that the stuff is not written to the DB correctly.

What shall I do?

Hi,

In your search you will have to type "Bj*rn" . Use a "*" to substitute the special character.

Generally the search in Support suite does suck a lot. I never really find what I need and using the "Advanced Search" is not better either.
