Check if you have set the smalltext css tag to display the text in white.

Forgive me but I noticed I had asked for the incorrect template code. I was looking for messagecontentframe template. Forgive me for the confusion.

Within that template I searched for "smalltext" and didn't see any color assigned to it. I also searched for "color" and didn't see anything that was assigned white.

The issue seems to be with your messagecontentframe template. May not be CSS related.
