3.00.80 = Gold? - 16-04-2006, 03:31 PM

Based on the thread going around that says 3.00.80 might become gold, i whent over to download the build. To my surprise my support period is expired. I purchased the software back when the "gold" version was announced, the one that was released with tons of bugs which are still being fixed today.

I dont think since i bought the software i ever got a release that was bug free. (Currently running 3.00.28) and live chats are still encrypted, even though this build was supposed to correct that.

Being a software developer I know how hard it is to have a 100% bug free system, so i wont critize the kayako team for this, however, why should i pay more to keep downloading betas of the product? I don't want to the new features, i want the plain old 3.0, with its bugs fixed, and i dont want to have to keep paying to be able to download betas.

You should submit a ticket to Kayako...

Hi,

I do not see this being marked as stable today, the issues that cropped up have yet to be fixed and the fixes posted to CVS. Unless Varun is still working on the fixes and doing thorough testing as he goes and pushes a build with the fixes marked as stable later.

I don't think it would be useful most of the bugs have been already submitted and still pending. See http://bugs.kayako.net/.

Exactly same situation here.
At least I've downloaded the .32 before the support period was expired! but it have lot of bugs, so I buy a beta at release price.

yes but I can't download it because my support license has expired.
so, as we say, we have payed a product but get only a beta soft.

now we need to pay again the support period? why ? I don't want support, just the stable release. And if i pay I doubt we get a final release in the following 6 months.

Ok, Is not a beta, nor a Final Release Bugs free.

Just curious, but, truly I can't get the installer of 3.00.80 if I not pay for an additional 6 months support(?) period ?

thanks in advance for your comments

Hi,
There is ABSOLUTELY no such thing as bug free software. The thing you should look at is the time taken to resolve any bugs depending upon priority and to be honest we arent that bad at it

Thats correct, If your support and upgrades have expired it means you cant upgrade unless you pay.

Varun Shoor

Ok no bugs free, but at least something with not so many bugs and lack oif functionalitys. Don't offend, I'm not angry with kayako, just a little "frustrated" because I think the next release from .32 will be a little sooner.

Based on this experience, I will try to live with my NOT-BETA-BUT-NOT-FINAL-BUT-WITH-SOME-BUGS and when you released the v3.1 or something with all the functionality and working ok, I will pay the access to download the software bug-fixes of the package I bought.

I think if you offer a software you must give for free the bugfixes, but you know, is your company

See you on 2007/2008, thanks for your time, and have a nice day (or a least a better day than me)
