Admin changes Tickets view? - 07-09-2005, 03:14 PM

I was logged into the staff area as the admin. I changed the default view listing [Views -> View Options -> Edit View].

The change I made was suddenly visible to all the staff. That isn't what I was expecting. I was expecting that I only changed my own view of the tickets list.

Is this a bug, or does the admin change things for everyone when he changes things for himself?

This is not a bug, When you change a Public View it reflects changes for all Staff. You should create a Private View if you do not want other Staff to use the reflected changes.

Bet you I would have known that if there was a manual.

Thanks.

If I create a new private or public view (which works fine), and then select 'View All' from the 'filer tickets' tree, it remains on by bespoke view.

Bug or am I missing something. anyone?

Hi Mark,
Can you please explain what you mean by that?

Yep sure. If I create a new ticket view in the Staff CP, say called 'MyTicketsView', showing just tickets assigned to me say. That works fine, as it does also if I then click on 'Views', and select another view, say the default 'All Tickets' view.

However, if after re-selecting my new ticket view 'MyTicketsView', and then clicking on the 'View All' link (which is at the top of the ticket tree on left pane), my tickets still only display tickets assigned to me, i.e. my newly created view.

I'd of thought it should display all the tickets (whether it be all unassigned or otherwise)....but not remain on my newly created view.

Make any more sense Varun?

Hi,

The view all at the top of the ticket tree will only display all tickets for the current ticket view you have selected.

But how can we do such that no staff member can change the View/Default view options. I want actually that I can make changes in views and apply it public, but those views or new views can't be edited or created by any staff member.
