AOL users unable to log in - 08-12-2005, 10:56 PM

Hello All,

We have been experiencing a problem on the version 3 hosted solution with our AOL customers not being able to log in to the Support Center. They are able to register, but cannot use the registered email address and password to log in to the Support Center when connected through AOL. Their login and passwords are working if they log in using another ISP.

I do not have AOL to be able to test this on my end and was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue or knows of any possible solutions.

Thanks!

We are still seeing this problem. Has anyone else run into it and found a solution?

If this is a proxy issue, can you suggest a way to resolve it?

AOL is known for assigning a unique IP with each URL request that is sent, is it possible that this is causing an issue since eSupport tracks a user's session IP address?

Has anyone else seen an issue similar to this?

Thanks,

We've received a number of reports of AOL users (using the AOL browser) are unable to login. But being AOL users, they aren't able/willing to provide any useful information

I'm a AOL Member and can login to my Support Desk just fine... Of course I'm on a Broadband Connection so when I am logged onto AOL still using my Cox Communication Static IP... But none of my clients who are AOL Members have reported any issues.

Hi,

Try setting the following in the config file to true and see if that helps:

/**
* DISABLE SESSION IP CHECKS
*/
$_SWIFT["disablesessionipcheck"] = false;

Thanks - we'll give that a try. Unfortentley, the reported faults aren't 100% repeatable (not all AOL users suffer it, and the couple that do, don't get it all the time) - the only common things we've manage to find so far is that people reporting that they are unable to login are all AOL users and they are using the default AOL browser (users on AOL using IE or Firefox don't have the problem).

We'll let you know if we have any further reports of issues - but could be a few days/weeks at a minimum.
