Question Apache2 Error - 09-06-2009, 01:16 AM

I am running into an issue that I cannot seem to resolve. I am running Apache2 Linux. When you attempt to access the Live Support chat, clicking the Live Support graphic, the form comes up "Forbidden, You don't have permission to access /visitor/index.php." The error log shows "client denied by server configuration: /var/www/kayako/visitor/index.php".

I cannot find what is causing this error. I made sure all permissions were set correctly, that ownership is correct. Chatted with support and still I cannot get the problem to resolve. Interestingly the error is not consistent. The error only pops up occasionally. If you attempt to refresh the chat form, Ctrl F5, the form that is working will come up forbidden if you refresh 3 or 4 times.

I am sure it is a configuration issue between Apache and SupportSuite but cannot figure out what.

Thank you in advance for any assistance. It is appreciated.

Jack

Make sure the server PHP meets all Kayako requirements.

This is a permissions issue. This very probably means that Apache believes that directory is not part of your web directory. Please open a support ticket; our support staff will help you resolve this.

John,

Thank you for responding. I have thought that it may be a permission issue as well. Is there any information you can provide that can give me an idea where to look? Again the interesting part of this is that sometimes it really does work. If its a permission issue? It has to be something deep. If it was one of the primary directories? I would expect to see it consistently.

Any specifics you can provide as to where to look? It would be greatly appreciated. (I did submit a ticket.)

Jack

I'd prefer to leave it in the support staff's hands. There are way more of them than developers, and we're trying to get v4 out the door as quickly as possible. Besides, most of the stuff from here means logging into the machine and trying diagnostics, so I can't really help you without access, which obviously you can't give in a public forum.

Let's handle this in the ticket. That way I don't have to be careful about talking about the server.
