Angry Aspell not on hosted SupportSuit accounts. - 16-11-2006, 10:45 PM

I tried using the Spell Check function today for the first time on our hosted Support Suite account and kept getting errors. Contacted support and was told that is is not available on the hosted accounts.

I have 2 questions....

#1 Why does Kayako offer hosted accounts and not offer all of the features of Support Suite with it?

#2 Why is this not noted in the description or ordering process when signing up for a hosted account?

I am very happy with the rest of the product but I feel if I am paying for a hosted version of a product by the same company that created the product then ALL of the features should be made available to me.

Let me suggest you a work around untill Kayako fixes it.

Get firefox 2.0. It has an inbuilt spell checker based on the language dictionary. You can download a dictionary which suits your language. By default my installation is en-US but I downloaded a en-uk dictionary because we follow British english.

The spell checker instantly underlines the mistakes and also suggests spellings. You may add new words too. Just like MS Word.

This cannot be fixed till we move over to PHP extension. Aspell doesnt work on hosted accounts due to open_basedir & safe_mode security restriction.

I wish I could be of more help in this matter but our security policies prevent us from carrying this out.
