Automatically group self-registered users

We've set up a few different 'registered' user groups with different permissions for viewing Support Center modules (mainly, some can view/submit tickets while others only have Knowledgebase/Downloads/News access). Now we want to be able to put users who register themselves into these groups depending on what they put into the registration form. Is there any capability for automatically grouping users at registration time?

This is not possible. You will have to assign them to respective groups manually. By default the software will register them under the "default" template group.
