I was running PHP 4 and Mysql 3 (a vanilla cpanel setup), I just upgraded PHP to latest stable 5.x and Mysql to 5.x and everything is working now. The upgrades for all you other cpanel users were done in WHM. No more blank screens.

Hmm, maybe when the recompile of PHP was done it added MB String or some other required function.

I had mbstring and imap enabled in previous build, and recompiled then too to verify before going with the upgrade. Who knows.
