Angry Bug in teamwork!!! - 04-11-2006, 11:06 PM

I'm just amazed first off at the terrible quality control of this product. It honestly appears is if someone threw this together and never actually tested the features that were designed.

I decided to use the Teamwork section to manage my staff and their assignments. So I created a department for a specific job duty area and then I created a new TASK. I set everything up, selected the owner from the drop down "Fred" and inserted the task. After finding out where I can see a list of who has been assigned tasks, I see the owner is "Neal" so I deleted the task and created another. I made sure I picked "Fred" as the owner, yet once again, when the task is inserted (saved) it changes the ownership to me!!!!

Explanation please?

Hi Neal,

I suppose there is little confusion, If you select Task Type: "private" then the task is assigned to active staff only. Try to insert task to other user by selecting Task Type: "public" and let me know if problem persists.

Thanks.

All of my staff are ACTIVE staff. I want to assign a task to a staff member, I don't care whether or not other staff can view it. My assumption of "public" is that it is viewable from outside the staff portal. Just like private and public departments.

I'll refer to the documentation for more information - LOL!

Just like the "restore" button in templates, it should be labeled "revert" not "restore"!

Public vs. Private, this system continues to amaze me! Even the Kayako staff can't get it right!

I thought private meant to individual that created it, and public meant to all other staff members. Noone that is non-staff can see it.

I'll have to revisit this, I can't remember what I set now as I've ditched the idea of using the task system from the attempts of trying to use it. Why even use private/public terminology? Public sure means anyone can see it! use terminology such as "This task is only visible to me | This task is visible to all staff". Wouldn't that prevent this entire issue?

Although I haven't checked into this, the problem seems to be that of a common issue among Kayako.

If this private/public thing is correct, then, if Private is selected, WHY are we able to assign the task to someone else, i.e. another staff member? If a PRIVATE task is only for yourself, then when private is selected, the staff selection should be disabled.

User-Interface design is one of the biggest weaknesses in this package. For example, assigning a staff to a department they don't belong. Not being able to hide table of contents on the left, which is way too wide if you have a long department name. The bug regarding ticket statuses locked to a department. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Hi Neal,

This bug is fixed now. There was very little error at 362 line in modules/teamwork/function_taskrender.php,
Please modify onClick="javascript:document.tfform.ownerstaffid.d isabled=false; to onClick="javascript:document.tfform.ownerstaffid.d isabled=true; This will resolve the issue. I pushed this fix in upcoming CVS build.

Let me know if issue persists.

Thanks.

Regards,
