Which build is more stable? - 27-10-2006, 01:25 PM

There was an announcement in the forum about how the UNSTABLE build contain all the bug fixes. Which one is more stable? The CVS build or the UNSTABLE build?

Hi,

supportsuite.3.04.10.stable is more stable than Unstable and CVS builds.

Thanks.

The STABLE build is more stable; the UNSTABLE moniker just designates that it is untested by the public and there is a higher possibility of bugs existing in that code.

Soon enough, the UNSTABLE build will be marked STABLE.

Actually, neither of you really answered the question.

Of the two, UNSTABLE and CVS, is one considered more stable than the other?

Put it this way, the STABLE build was October 11th. Obviously there are alot of bug fixes and things since then that are probably quite important. There are CVS and UNSTABLE builds both labelled 3.04.51 - of the two, which is more reliable and if you had to manage a help desk, which would you use?

The UNSTABLE and CVS builds are created at the same time by an automated build script. However, the CVS branch may change when we continue developing and committing new changes. If you want to use the build in a production environment, you're better off using the UNSTABLE.
