Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket - 12-04-2008, 04:49 PM

Hello,
I have Kayako Support Suite 3.11 (PHP) on a linux box. Im having a problem right off the bat. Ive configured the config.php with the appropriated database information. However i keep getting this error when trying to install.

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock' (2)

Ive done some research to what this error means and most likely its because i have the Hosting name, Database name, user name or password wrong. Seems like a simple mistake. The problem is.. i have checked and re-checked over 10times if information is correct. They are. Can this problem be due to some other MYSQL connecion issue with godaddy.com? Im running the lastest PHP and MYSQL. Database port is 3306 as confirmed by godaddy.com

Any help would be appreciated.

ian

GoDaddy don't have MySQL installed on each server. They have separate MySQL servers. Because of this, using localhost as the hostname will not work. See What do I use for a host name when creating a MySQL database? - Help Center—Knowledge Base and FAQ to find out what your hostname should be.

Hi craigbrass. The host name is the proper one. Which is p50mysql85.secureserver.net. Its has to be some kind of confliction with godaddy? Does this not work with them?

I suggest you contact them for assistance. It sounds like something wrong at their end.
