| Can't search email address or IP address? -

So after spending a lot of time rebuilding my entire search index to be able to search... my searching is still broken.
What I am trying to do is pretty simple.. I think..
I navigate to Tickets -> Search -> Advanced Search
I select to search by E-mail Address and enter a customers email address (which has a history of tickets) and click search. 0 results.
I try another advanced search for the Entire Message containing an IP address of a recent ticket I know has this in the body. 0 results.
I have tried using different combinations of wildcard and + for required. None seem to make a difference.
The one odd thing I notice is that if I search for Email address AND Status = Closed and Match for ALL, it returns the search limit of tickets, all closed. But none matching the email address.
What is up? Am I doing something wrong?
