The character set of the incoming email... - 13-09-2006, 12:35 PM

Every now and then we see this message:

The character set of the incoming Email is different than the default character set. The contents might not display properly. If you wish to change the character set, Click Here.
Why not just have the ticket automatically use the character set for maximum compat.? I find it a little bit of a pain to have to click this every time I see it, just do it automatically for us IMHO.

Not yet, please! With Asian languages we have to make a modification to the code as it is. If it converts it automatically it will add a second conversion and likely break the encoding. For example, Japanese e-mails HAVE to be a different character set, and that character set does not exist in html.

Simple, just make it a setting in the Admin CP "Auto switch incoming character set to match incoming..."

A setting. That's a good idea. That way we can choose. Cheers.

That's a pretty good idea. I have submitted this as a feature request. You can track its progress here:

http://bugs.kayako.net/?do=details&id=1651

They will most likely add it if they see users would like a feature implemented; so, leave some comments for this request!
