I don't' have this problem because I set the Reset due time on status to Yes for my 'closed' status tickets. It clears the due time

Hey thanks for that. I am sure that will work going forward but what about all the closed over due tickets that I already have listed. How do you get rid of them?

I would manually clear their due time. There is an option when editing the ticket to clear (a second calendar icon beside the first one). This works well if you don't have a ton of tickets. If you do, well, you might want to skip lunch and perhaps invest in some carpel tunnel remedies because you will be clearing each

you might be able to do it via the database, but i don't know what effect that might have on the system
