Creating an article by attachment - 05-06-2007, 08:06 AM

I have noticed that I can only manually write an article. Is it possible to create an article by means of an attachment; that is if I got a big amount of whitepapers or manuals that I need to publish. (Or is this meant to be put in the knowledgebase and/or downloads and then put URLS/links into the article)

TIA
Kent Knudsen

No, I do not believe this is possible at the moment.

For the "automatic part" (big amount of whitepapers or manuals):

The only way i see is to use an external ETL (Extract Transform & Load).
make a rule like (idea only, not a valid ETL rule) : for each file in each subfolder of <folder> insert into my database a reccord with 'category'=<subfoldername> with 'content'=<file>[content].
But the get [content] method might be complex, depending on the file type (but many format are handled by ETL).
Or as you're saying, insert a reccord in the download section, then create an article with a link automatically generated.

Here is an opensource one (and the best of those i know in the OS community) formelly known as KETTLE
