Cron setup / parser - 16-09-2008, 01:23 AM

Do we need two cron jobs setup to run the scheduled tasks

i.e. http://domain.com/esupport/cron/index.php

and a second cron running the parser switch?

i.e. http://domain.com/esupport/cron/index.php?_t=parser

?????????

You can run the first one if you have Parser enabled in Admin CP -> Scheduled Tasks -> Manage

A cron is needed if you wish to automate the execution.

I've alway had to run the _parser and _ticket crons in order to get the parser and escalations to work.

Hmm, isn't this a bug, then?

I have to use both cron jobs or it seems like the _parser never runs. We don't use ticket escalations, so I can't comment on that part.

Initially that was exactly what I thought however I have told that Kayako change the way the cron works hence a seperate cron is required for the parser.

It's essentially a documentation bug, in that up until recently, the documentation didn't mention this, which led to a lot of incomplete setups.

I do not think this is a documentation bug. While I was working in Kayako a single cron for cron/index.php did the job

I tested it with just enabling the parser in the Schedule Tasks, and pointed the cron to cron/index.php and it didn't work. I still had to add a second cron = to cron/index.php?_t=parser

Yes, that's because both are required. The documentation is in error on this point.
