Downloads over 2MB - 08-08-2005, 03:21 PM

I have a file I've uploaded to the v3 downloads section. It is about 2.8 MB. When users go to download it, it stops downloading somewhere around 2 MB. I've checked the php.ini to ensure there's no 2 MB limits anywhere (though those would apply to uploads, which I don't have any problems with).

Anyone have any idea what would cause a 2MB or greater download to stop downloading?

downloads timing out - 09-08-2005, 01:17 AM

The issue is with your php.ini file and the timeouts. Its timeing out before the download finishes.

Look for this entry and change the settings:

Quote:
max_execution_time = 10000 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
I changed mine to this (10000 Seconds) because I have some huge 500MB files in the download section. Although Im not entirely sure if this is safe.

Hope it helps, Mike

Thanks, Mike! That did the trick. Pretty sure I wouldn't have guessed that one on my own

Go to the admin pannel > diagnostics > phpinfo

Verify that the max_execution_time has been well set.

That's dangerous. If a script get in a loop (sometimes there are strange bugs), the script will take all ressources until it timeouts.

safe_mode: Off

Increase your memory_limit to around 50M and check if that fixes the issue.
