Why doesn't Kayako use the latest stable release? Would you expect a new release to first appear on their support site? You know when things are coming out in vBulletin land as they first use it on their site before it is released to the public.

IT rule: "when something works and you don't need anything else, dont change anything!"
It's not because they're releasing new features that THEY need em. It's all for the customer... so why do they need "more" when "enougth" is enougth?

Aren't demo sites hosted on latest versions? So they trust it.

Totally agree with this. Kayako should be using the latest release (maybe even CVS) to prove they are confident about their production-worthyness of the software. Many software companies do it.

We have testing areas where CVS versions are tested frequently - it is not sensible to test fixes and patches on a live support desk. This does not show a lacking in confidence, it is a sensible approach; developers can make mistakes just like any other person.

The CVS versions are not all production worthy - it is not suggested they are.

The only reason we are lagging behind in installing the latest STABLE version is simply down to time - the developers are busy developing.

Ah, gotcha. Didn't realise it was the developers that did the upgrades.

I would expect this would be the FIRST site to get updated by a new build, not the last! If you are not using your latest brew, you won't ever discover problems BEFORE your paying customer.

Unless specifically asked to upgrade; Kayako themselves "do not" insist their clients on using the CVS builds for live support.

I don't think this thread is in regards to K using a CVS build, simply the production/stable build. As their support suite is stock, the time to upgrade it would be under 5 minutes. I hope Kayako will set a better example in the future and show their confidence in their production builds.

Speaking of stable...

We've been told for two months now to expect a STABLE release "soon". Can you please clarify your definition of "soon"?

Kayako do not specify dates as customers get annoyed if dates are made and they find they are not able to make the date. It is simply "it will be ready when it is ready".

We are currently crunching through a number of bugs in SupportSuite - once these are cleared the new STABLE will be released.

Yeah, and it's been shocking that a XSS vulnerability was found and yet there is not sense of urgency to provide us with a secure SupportSuite!

Neal,

Which XSS vulnerability are you referring to that is yet to be fixed?
