*** eSupport slow? Post your setups *** - 02-03-2006, 03:17 PM

I found that eSupport is a pretty slow, compared to some other packages I have used.

I know many of you have the same issues, but I'm hoping some of you have resolved the issue by tweaking your MySQL and PHP settings, server config and setups.

Please post your config/setup here if eSupport runs nice and fast for you.

Mine was really fast during testing then become extremely sluggish after I merged the old data from 2.3.5 into version 3. DB is about 17mb!

Version 2.3.5 was still pretty snappy.

Mine's pretty quick. I'm on a Windows 2003 server, PHP 4.4.1, MySQL 4.1.15.

You can see my PHP config in my posts that I've put here on how to setup PHP on a Windows server.

I know Varun has said that he would be doing optimization of the code and Java for the next stable release. But that was several months ago and I don't know if he's still planning to do that or not.

We will see when it comes out.

How big is your database? Thats the main issue. Esupport degrades as the database grows.

Ive optimized the database etc, but it had little effect.

ours is several hundred megs in size...it only putzes when there are tons of tickets each containing tons of debug info (I mean TONS, 12 printed pages worth) in a support category.

What slows it down the most is the preview option enabled. Disable it and you'll see it speed up too...

But ours is acceptable on a Win2k3 and MySQL 5.020.

It has to do with the UI, not the backend. I started using the pda version becasue it is way faster than the staff view.

Maybe Varun can make a stripped down staff version that is built for speed, not "kewlness". ( hint, hint )

Not sure if you are responding to my post, but if you are, then it does not matter the db size. It is the UI causing the slowness, especially over a ssl connection.
